A thing I think about is that one of the reasons political Islam was successful in building itself up as the opposition to Western-backed dictatorships in the Middle East was that the social costs for persecuting clergy are very high.

If it helps, it is extremely difficult to "fire" an Episcopalian bishop (and I don't believe that anyone in TEC wants to). I'm concerned for her safety, given the state of things, but not for her job security.

We love the National Cathedral although we aren't Episcopalian; fortunately they are NOT literally a "national" or federally-supported institution, but entirely self-maintaining. Chump and his evil minions have NO SAY in Episcopal clerical staffing/preferment.

The more I hear from the Episcopalian clergy the more I wonder if that is a world worth exploring more of.

The Episcopalian Church is one of the exceedingly few that actually has a spine, afaik.
